Christy McKee, M.S., L.Ac., is a California licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist. She graduated with a Master's in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in San Jose, CA. While studying, she had the opportunity to treat senior citizens at Akiyama Wellness Center and veterans through the school's Veteran Outreach program. With well over 3,000 clinical and academic hours under her belt, she finds that her best work is with chronic pain, women's health issues, sleep and stress, and digestive complaints.
During her father's battle with cancer, she was amazed by the nurses' ability to change the dynamic of their patient's treatments. They were able to change the atmosphere in the room just with their presence. Inspired, she decided that she wanted to help people through their suffering. Her training as a Certified Nursing Assistant opened her eyes to the limitations of Western Medicine to deal effectively with such common afflictions like pain and insomnia. Her search for alternatives led to Traditional Chinese Medicine. She switched her college major from Nursing to Chinese Medicine, and hasn't looked back since.
Christy believes that healthcare should be a partnership between the patient and practitioner.
